Sharing photos using Air Drop between an Ipad and MacPro 2011 ?

It would seem that these two Apple products, both equipped with Air Drop don't recognize one another. Assistance please.

Hello,

It depends on a few things:

-Exact models of the Mac and iPad?
-What version of OS X and iOS?
-Do you have Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled on both, and are they on the same Wi-Fi network?
