Screen sharing and force quit

When I'm connected to a network computer (everyone is running El Cap) by screen sharing, I am unable to do Option-Escape-Command to Force Quit Applications on the remote machine. Presumably screen sharing isn't transmitting special control key selections. How do I get it to do so? I could Force Quit in Terminal by killing a PID, but it would be nice if I could get Option-Escape-Command to work remotely.

Hello,

You could send that command if you were using Apple Remote Desktop, but it's not available in Screen Sharing. You can right-click/click and hold on the icon of the running app in the Dock, then press the Option key and Quit will change to Force Quit. You may have to perform this twice, but the app should quit.

Oh, excellent. Thank you. Neat trick, holding the option key down to get "forced quit".
