OK, thanks.

You should be able to simply connect the j5create adapter to the MacBook Pro, connect an HDMI cable from it to the Sony TV HDMI input. Then, switch the TV input to HDMI and see an image from the Mac. If you do and it is only a picture without the menu bar, Dock, and icons, then you would need to go into System Preferences.. > Displays > Arrangement and click Mirror Displays.
