Running OS Big Sur 11.7, what is the simplest, easiest way to to manage this. Something new (to me) that I'll probably only do for this particular DVD (it's a workshop manual) so I've just obtained a DVD RW unit but what's the next best step?

Depends on what you want to do. What's on the dvd that you want to use? If it's an application that runs on Windows, then you will probably have to install a copy of Windows. If it's just files, then you maybe able to install an application that will open/read them.
