Recovering Old Backup from Time Capsule

Hi all

I'm trying to recover a backup from an AirPort Time Capsule over a network. I'm trying to do this for my Dad (his mac has died) and as a windows user, I'm a little lost.

I can connect to the AirPort Time Capsule but the folder format seems to be "DadiMac.backupbundle/bands" and" DadiMac.backupbundle/mapped". Inside these files are thousands of files just named "1a", 1a0", etc.

I was expected I could pull a few files off the unit but that does not seem to be the case. I'm also not sure if the files are encrypted. I have tried an HFS+ viewer but this does not seem to work.

Anyone got any ideas on this?

Are you doing a full restore or do you just need a few files?

Ideally I'd like to just get a few files via windows. Worst case I could try to install a mac OS via a virtual machine.
