Mac OS X

Tired of trying to figure this out myself so please help me if you can.

I used Google Chrome and am willing to change to another program.
I have never experienced a pop-up marathon like it.

Randomly if I click inside of a text box, image, and new Tab; I receive annoying pop-ups and it takes over my screen so I can' tjust ignore them.
LIST OF POP-UPS
-MacKeeper
-Clean App
-Random pages.
Keeper and Clean App are the most common. I am unable to click and have it go to destination without a pop-up.

I do not want to reset to factory settings due to the fact I don't want to remove Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, etc.
I have tried removing apps that I don't need but when I remove them... "Clean App" pops up and states I cannot remove this program.

Also, when I tried to use Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera and these all provide the pop-up also.

Hi Brent,

Understand your frustration. I use Firefox (have been using it a long, long time), and I get very, very few pop-ups, and certainly not the ones you get. I have never installed MacKeeper and CleanApp, and I have seen negative "things" about MacKeeper (https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3691). Not sure if CleanApp has similar issues.

Maybe you should do at least two things:

1. Uninstall MacKeeper. Here is a link that guides you through this:

2. Uninstall CleanApp. Here is a link that can help you with this:

For Firefox, one of my prefernce settings is "Block pop-up windows", within Content. That seems to work.

Just tried Adware Medic, and it worked fine. Did not find anything, but then I am not having issues like Brent is.

If MacKeeper and/or CleanApp have been installed, most likely Adware Medic will not help. So, remove them first if installed, and then run Adware Medic.
