I believe Kaveman is asking the following:

Size: File size in MB and file dimensions in pixels - i.e. 1024 x 768, etc.
Format: File type - i.e. JPG, RAW, TIFF, etc.

In addition, it would be good to know the following:

-What is the source of the images - i.e. camera brand and model, etc.
-Which model Mac
-What version of OS X

MacBookPro5,5: OSX 10.9.4: Picasa 3 v.3.9.137.163[ currently.]
Problem: Yrs ago installed Picasa [Pi] and scanned in actual photos to IPhoto then to HD's "Pictures". Uninstalled Pi.
3 wks ago reinstalled Pi and scanned in newer photos into Pictures. Pi.will display the older pics ok but while scanned in will not retain the newer pics.. Have uninstalled several times-rebuilt Pi3 database-removing and re-inserting Pi3 folders in Library; tried "Delete Entire Data Base" for Pi3. All without changing anything.
Pi3 accepts every file type from jpeg thru movie files. Ditto sizes with 2048px preferred.
