Picasa not restoring after fresh install ?

hello my macmini 80gb 10.6.8 with snow leopard was running very slow so i did a format and then an install,i had backed up Picasa to an external drive but now when i click on Picasa restore it does nothing,i can see the spinning disk for about 2 hours but no restore,any ideas how i can restore please?

What was your backup method was it Time Machine or other?

i used Picasa to backup to a 3tb seagate i have

Please can you be more spacific on how you did this backup, as Picasa 3.9.137.119 includes Google+ Auto Backup. Is this what you used.

i did not use google+ auto backup i just clicked on file and backup to which was my external drive,i have since installed Shotwell to my linux laptop and i found a time machine backup from another external drive i have,i then managed to get nearly every thing back and running through Shotwell which i will be using from now on,thank you every one for your help.
