Password Incorrect Enter the password for the Exchange account "Exchange`'

There I am using Hotmail from my Mac for years ..then this blxxdy message keeps appearing !
I do know the password for my hotmail account but this doesn't seem to be acceptable.
I have researched and (where understood) tried to use the various apparent solutions but to no avail.
Where do I go from here ? Is it safe to delete my hotmail account and start again ? Will I still be able
to access all previous saved emails ?...... HELP I am a minor illiterate Old Blok in mid 80's !

You need to go into
Settings
Mail
Accounts
Hotmail
Delete Account
Delete from My iPhone

Go to Add Account
Outlook.com
Sign in with your user name and Password

You will have to go into the Outlook account to change the number of days to sync your email if you had it set on something other than one month. Select No Limit if you want to see all of your email in your In Box.
