Not sure if this can be done

I don't know much about automating stuff on my computer, but I thought I would ask. I am scanning my families old photo albums onto my computer. I then import them into Aperture, and then sync each album with smugmug. What I would like to be able to do, is just have to scan the pictures into a folder, and then they automatically get imported into an album in aperture, and then uploaded to smugmug. Or they can go straight from a folder to smugmug if thats not possible. Is this, or any part of it possible?

You can make a Folder Action that Imports into Aperture.

But I can't see any Upload option, you may be able to run an AppleScript to get Aperture to move the photos into smugmug, I'm not sure what smugmug is.
