No CD image. What's up?

Hello Mac Family, I'm new and have a G4 400mhz. Mac. All of a sudden my audio Cds, when placed in either my internal Cd/Dvd drive or my external Firewire Drive fail to show up as and image on my desktop. Does anyone have and idea why? I'm not even sure what to go to ,or what even controls this feature. Can't find any info. Can anyone Help me? Thank you - Rahj:eek:

Greetings, try clicking once on your Desktop, hit the command (The key with the apple symbol) and comma keys at the same time, click on the "General" tab that pops up in the info window and where it says "Show these items on the desktop" click on the box (If it's not checked off) that's adjacent to the CD's DVD's and iPods.
