Purchased a new macbook (A2442) as the old one wont turn on anymore (A1425).
Migrated the files from the old to new from a timemachine backup saved on a harddrive.

The account log in from the back up is there and will accept the password but as soon as it trys to load it crashes. "accountsd crashed unexpectedly" and I can't get out of the screen I have to force the laptop to shutdown.

Not sure how to proceed. I have a new admin account and started getting things set up there and don't want to have to reformat the whole thing. I wasn't able to find anything else online with a similar issue.. will check back on this thread later, thanks in advance.

Hello and welcome.

Sorry for the delayed response.
  • Which exact model is the old Mac - MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2012) or MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2013)?
  • What version of OS X/macOS is on the old MBP?
  • Did the migration complete successfully?
  • Are there other users that were migrated that work/don't work?
