Hello and welcome.
It's Apple's new design. The newer Apple keyboards do take some time to get used to, especially if you are used to using an older style keyboard, since the key travel is not the same as older devices. The mouse could be sensitive to the surface you are using it on.
If they aren't working for you, you should be able to purchase a third-party keyboard and mouse that may work better for you.

Each iteration is flatter and it takes a while for me to be used to the flatter keyboards. But I do like the touch-id.
That is, they've been "improved" so as to be inferior to previous offerings, a common Apple theme these days. It just makes no design sense at all to take something as basic and necessary as the keyboard and make it unfamiliar.
If you wish to make a constructive contribution to the future of Apple, you could box the keyboard up and send it back to it's maker.
