HI

I have a Max OS X 10.4.11 and want to use the mail feature, but don't know how to. It always asked for a smtp.mac.com password.

Any help appreciated.

Do you have a .mac account? That is why it's asking for the smtp.mac.com password. If you don't use .mac, then set up your account using your service provider settings.
