Hi Guys,

So ive followed a few instructions on line to solve this and it did manage to get the screen back on once briefly but its now failed again. The laptop start up sound and keyboard light all come on as normal but the screen is completely black.

As i urgently need to get some work off it i was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction of a cable i could use that would connect my macbook to my imac.

macbook model: MacBook Pro "Core i7" 2.2 15" Late 2011
imac: iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2011)

I pruchased this but its too big for both computers: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Firewire...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

Would appreciate any help. Thanks!

Hello and welcome.

You can use Target Disk Mode to connect the MBP to the iMac with either a FireWire 800 or Thunderbolt cable. The cable you purchased is a FireWire 400 cable, which neither have a port for, unless you got adapters for both ends.

Get the correct cable, then follow the directions from the links above.
