Macbook Air Freezes during login and sometimes during boot

hello everyone,

I'm not sure if this is a hardware error or a software error, but I am hoping for a software error.

Usually it stops during the login in faze, So I can enter the password just fine (usually), but then the progress bar just stops at 40-50% and does not continue. Rebooting does not always help and I am lost.

I have also added a picture of what happenrd during a reboot yesterday, in hopes that it might be of use.

We need to know the following:

1. What exact Mac model do you have?

2. What exact Mac OS are you using?

3. Have you ever done any disk cleanup/maintenance/repairs? There is both some excellent freeware and commercial products that can help you with that.

4. Are you making backups to an external device? If so, what software are you using?

5. How much free space is on your internal drive?
