Mac Mail constantly crashes

Every time I open mail with an attachment, the mail programme crashes. Any time I try to delete mail, the programme also crashes. Can anyone help me?

Have you tried to repair permissions? You can open Disk Utility. The application is in your Applications folder > Utilities.
