Line not centered

When I type a Single Letter on an empty line and then hit the CENTER button under Format, Style, the letter is centered at the 4 1/2" mark under the ruler, but it should beat 4 1/4" for the standard 8 1/2" paper. The margins are set at 1" all the way around. What am I doing wrong?

Hi There,

From your description of your issue, it sounds like you are using Pages.

Under the Center buttons are the indent buttons. Its possible that you have indents set. You want to make sure that the left indent button is greyed out. If its black then click it so that its greyed out, and your text should center properly.

@MacsBug made a good point about the potential of indents messing with your centering. Definitely check that out.

If you're still having trouble after that, you could try creating a new document to see if the issue persists. Sometimes, formatting settings can get a little wonky in a particular document.

Finally, you could also try adjusting the ruler manually. Hover over the center mark and try dragging it to the 4 1/4" spot. This isn't ideal, but could be a good workaround.

It was the Indents, thanks.
