Subject line in email

Now here's a stupid question. What happens to emails sent with nothing in the "subject" box? Are they delivered? Do recipients generally ignore them, send them to their junk mailbox, never get them? I've scoured my manual and can find nothing that mentions it - presumably because the answer's obvious.

Yes, they do get delivered. I am not sure what others do but I tend to ignore them.
