Limited Migration

I solved several of my previous threads by buying a new computer. Mac OS Tahoe Version 26.3. I was able to connect to my old computer (Mac OS High Sierra Version 10.13.6). I would like to transfer some files but not all. Specifically can I import pictures from Photos directly. I have been able to export from Photos to a file folder on the old computer and then Import those pictures to the New Photos app, but it is a little slow. Any suggestions?
