Hello,

I'm copying everything (nearly 500GB) from one MacBook retina 2017 to another using Migration Assistant via WiFi which is my mobile phone. It started off pretty well. 65MB per sec, then a 100 for a while. About a fifth of the way from the end when it was saying about an hour remaining it started going very slow. It still is, about two or three hours later, it's bearly progressed.

The speed right now is about 800 *bytes*, not even k, per second. It's fluctuating sometimes between that speed and 2 to 300kb per second, althoughhasn't got that fast recently. It says about 1h28m remaining but it seems potentially days at this speed to me. It seems to be doing 4 files per second. I thought maybe the problem was lots of very small files vs very large files, with large ones being faster maybe, but I don't think that now really.

I'd like to restart the phone, imagining that it's just got clogged up or something, that that's where the problem is. But it seems unlikely that would allow me to carry on, I bet I'd have to start it all again, resuming wouldn't be possible?, and the same thing happening again is very possible.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

Ooh, 5mb per second... 1.3 now, but still, that's the fastest I've seen it go for a while. I should probably just leave it overnight and see how far it's got tomorrow morning.

So, an actual question: is it normal for the speed to fluctuate like this, or is it likely because I'm using a phone foe WiFi network?

Ignore all the above, it's just completed. I didn't expect that.

So, it appears going super slow is normal maybe, or my WiFi just went super slow for a period of time for some reason. Who knows? Not me.
