Right… I keep getting a note claiming iPhoto is still trying to import photos when I am definitely not! No matter what option I choose it keeps creating empty 'recovered photo' files! Any thoughts? The only thing I can now think of to do is copy my photos to an external hard drive and reset my laptop. I've tried copying the iPhoto library, but the same issue persists. Please help!

Hello and welcome.

Fortunately, this is a semi-common issue. It usually happens when iPhoto is updated from version 6 or earlier to '08.

-Make sure you have a Time Machine or other backup of your iPhoto Library.
-Make sure iPhoto is not open/running.
-Navigate to your Pictures folder.
-Control-click or right-click on the iPhoto Library.
-Select Show Package Contents.
-If you see a folder called Recovered Photos or Import, click and drag them to the Desktop.
-Restart iPhoto.

This should fix the issue. Again, make sure you have some form of backup of your data, just in case.

Let us know if that doesn't correct the issue,

C
