iPhoto on MacBook went south

Just bought my granddaughter a new MacBook Air for college; took her older MacBook back and want to sell. Only thing wrong is that the iPhoto app appears to be damaged as it won't open up her images any more without an error message. What's best COA before putting this up on e-Bay?

When launching iPhoto hold down the Option Key, make a new Library and see if that helps.
