IPad Pro Charging Iss

I have a 4th gen iPad Pro (12.9 in) worked flawlessly for almost three years. Now, it will only charge if I plug it in to my Mac. And then only if I insert it with a specific side up.
Tried other chargers/cables (that work with my other devices) with no success. Took it to a repair center and they said the connector in the device was good.
I erased the device and reinstalled OS 16 (was told it may be a software issue) to no avail. Has anyone heard of this before?
Any hints?

More info: the battery died and when I plugged it in to my regular charger, it started a rebooting cycle over and over till the battery was up to 8%. Then I could connect to my Mac for software re-installation.
At that point, the external charger no longer charged and now only my Mac will connect. The Mac sees the device and I can still do software and restore processes.
The tech at the repair place suggested my mother board may be the problem.
I’ve always taken good care of it so no visible damage.
