Sidebar problem: iPad become major screen

Hi
Whenever I activate the sidebar my mac pro becomes the secondary while everything moves to the ipad - the multiple desktops, the controls. I cant even login back to the mac from its screen but have to do it from the ipad's screen. Would welcome suggestions for solving it, thanks!

I currently don't have Apple hardware that supports Sidecar, so I don't have any experience with it.
