Hi Sandy,

The "Not Charging" message on your iPad can be caused by several factors. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Check the Charging Cable and Adapter:
    • Inspect the charging cable and adapter for any visible damage. If you have another cable or adapter, try using those to see if the issue persists.
    • Ensure you're using an Apple-certified charging cable and adapter.
  2. Clean the Charging Port:
    • Sometimes, dust and debris can accumulate in the charging port, preventing a proper connection. Use a small, dry brush or compressed air to gently clean the port.
  3. Restart Your iPad:
    • Press and hold the Top button and either Volume button until the power off slider appears. Drag the slider to turn off your iPad. Wait a few seconds, then press and hold the Top button again until the Apple logo appears.
  4. Try a Different Power Source:
    • If you were charging your iPad via a computer, try plugging it into a wall outlet instead. Ensure the outlet is working by testing it with another device.
    • If you were using a wall outlet, try a different one or plug the charger into a different USB port on your computer.
  5. Use a Higher Power Adapter:
    • iPads require a higher wattage adapter to charge effectively. Ensure you are using a 10W or 12W Apple power adapter (or higher). Lower wattage adapters might not provide enough power to charge the iPad.
  6. Check for Software Updates:
    • Ensure your iPad is running the latest version of iOS. Go to Settings > General > Software Update and install any available updates.
  7. Reset All Settings:
    • If none of the above steps work, you can try resetting all settings. Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. This will reset system settings without deleting your data.
Let me know if it works. Best,
