Image map application

Can anyone recommend an application that will splice images and convert them into image maps? I used one last year, but I cannot recall its name. Fireworks is an option, but I'd rather use shareware. Any suggestions?

I'm not sure but I think that you might be able to create image maps with Gimp as well. Won't hurt to check it out, it's free!
