Hello folks.

My very old iMac has a reoccurring problem.
Running Lion 10.7.5 -= recently upgraded with new HD as well.

Whenever we startup, we receive a message that we need to "Enter your Apple ID password for (e-mail address removed)".
(trying to connect with iCloud I'm thinking)

Which I do and it goes into permanent hold mode ........ spinning thingamejig. Nothing happens until I force close it.
Trying to access System Preferences has the same outcome.

Help please ........

Regards,
Don.

Hello,

Sounds like OS X Lion may be having authentication issues due to its age. One thing you could try is to hold the Shift key down while starting up, until you see the Apple logo. It will then take several minutes to startup to the Desktop and will show Safe Boot in red on the right side of the menu bar. That may allow you to login fully and open System Preferences.

See if that helps.
