Icons show up as up-ended retangle with characters in them.

Some pages on various sites don't show icons properly. For example, what should be a star shows up as an up-ended triangle with E6 within it on one line followed by 6() on the next line. Is there a cure for this?

MacBook Air, OS X 10.7.5, Firefox, One of my vacation rental sites, for example: http://www.vrbo.com/17154. There is one of those boxes on the green bar at the top of the page after Login and another after Help. They also appear further down on the page under the heading "Why VRBO." There is one in front of each of the 4 bullet items.

Which version of Firefox - is it above version 35?

I tried viewing that link with Safari 5.1.10 under Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and a red box popped up that states:

"It looks like you are using a browser that VRBO no longer supports. Download a modern browser for a better experience."
But, those graphics load properly.

-Do you get that popup box?
-Does the same thing happen in Safari?
