i-life 11 and dvd/movies

Hi - is anyone else having trouble getting ilife 11 and iphoto in particular to recognise and read movie files? our camera is a Sony NEX and ilife 9 recognised both stills and movies. Now that we've installed 11...it doesnt read the files.. What the???
