How to get rid of unused email addresses in Mail?

When I compose a mail and try to type the Email address in the To: line,
the application's pop-up list rises with several emails.
All of them do not exist any more except one.
How do I get rid of those annoying email addresses.
They even don’t exist in my Contacts Book.

Open the Mail app, click Window, select Previous recipients select the address you want to remove and click Remove from list.
