help me recover a word file, please!

Hi, i really need some help, the other day i saved over a word doc i need. Im using Microsoft word 2004 on my Macbook os 10.5.8. i had a word doc called x, and then i accidentally made another file with the same name, and hence saved over it. can you advise me on how to get the original version of the file back?

I don't know if there is a way to recover when you rewrite the file (as you did). Some apps can recover from the trash when you delete a file, but that's not your case. I suppose that, based on your note, you did not have a back-up of your files.
