I'm totally confused!

I have a late 2009 model Macbook. And I want to connect it to my TV.

So my research has led to believing I need a Mini display port adapter and a HDMI cable - but from some of what I have read, this won't carry sound...

Can anyone clarify this and what I do actually need?

Thats right some of the early MacBooks didn't have sound out the miniDisplay port. Just run a cable from the headphone port to the TV.

One that has a headphone jack on one end and whatever your TV sound in on the other. There is normally one HDMI channel that also takes sound in. Check your TV handbook, not really a Mac issue.

no but the initial query about how to get my MB working with a TV is a mac issue.

Not everyone is a tech head hence the post for advice :)
