Followed instructions via YouTube, used proper adapter, HDMI input correct. All I get is a brief blink of black, then back to "no signal" yada yada.

Watched other instructions - go to System Prefs, choose Displays... Lizzie only pops up with Built-in Display.

Oh how? Oh what shall our oldscribe say?
I promise to pass it along
and PLAY...
like the smart people who have Macs.

Hi,

Basic way is as follows.
1) Find the right adaptor cable to convert your Mac's video port to HDMI and Connect this adaptor to your Mac as you have done.
2) Press input or source on your TV remote to switch to the HDMI input.
3) You should now see the desktop background on your TV and can drag applications over to it. If you want your MacBook display and TV to show the exact same thing then you need to set your MBP for mirror mode.
4) For sound through the TV speakers click System Preferences and then Sound. In the "Output" list in the middle, look for "HDMI" or the name of your TV and click it.

Also, to set up mirror mode on your MBP.

1) Open the Apple menu, located in the upper-left corner of your laptop's display. Click on the option labeled System Preferences.
2) Locate the icon labeled Displays, under the Hardware heading. Click on the button labeled Arrangement.
3) Click on the checkbox labeled Mirror Displays, located in the bottom-left corner of the window.
4) Click on the red button in the upper-left corner to close the System Preferences window.

Hope this helps.
