I have a MBP 17" core duo 2.16 with the 120 Gb HDD. Running out of space. What would be a good option for a new internal drive and how difficult is it to change? I was thinking 250+ Gb would be nice.

thanks for any help

Hi there,

I'll see if I can find you a "Take apart guide"...

I haven't taken one to bits myself, but if the internals are like the 17" Powerbook then it's a bit of a pain to do.

From memory it took me about an hour to upgrade mine.

Thanks Ric. Looks like I'll need to find myself a Hitachi 250 - 320 drive. The rest looks easy.

I've replaced my 15" MBP hd with a Hitachi Travelstar 250GB. No complaints whatsoever. Just make sure you pay attention to the little hole in the drive, which you're not supposed to cover up! And, obviously, have a system for where you put all the screws during dismantling...

Good luck!
