Garageband not working

I am using Garaband '08 on a g5. No matter what I do, the program keeps pausing, whether I am trying to listen to a track, play notes on the keyboard, or just so much as try to scroll the menu. It almost appears as if the program does not have the memory to run, yet this is an impossibility as my computer has tons of memory and open space. I am not running any other programs, and I have even tried to reinstall the program. I am REALLY upset as I am a musician who relies on Garageband for all of her music. Does anyone have any ideas as what could be causing this? Thanks.:frown:

Some say that recording with the Editor open makes it crash, others say it still crashes but not as often with the Editor closed, I don't use it so do know if thats what makes it crash.
