Hi all,

I'm new to garage band and am wanting to use it to slow down some music tracks so I can follow the bass line. Then in turn to plug my bass in and play along.

First of all...

Can I slow down an mp3 track? I've found how to play them but that is all and all tutorials use 09, not 08 which I have.

secondly...

Can I plug my bass into the macbook and record? if so, how?

Many thanks,

Phil

edit:-
I have upgraded to 09 but am still having issues. Namely:
1. slowing down the mp3
2. recording my bass - the only options for live instrument are using the inbuilt mic but I want to plug the bass into my comp. Is this not possible?

Thanks

Hello Phil.

You can plug your bass into your mac via USB. You need a device like this: Click Here. You will have much better sound quality going this route than plugging your bass into a line-in/mic port.

I've seen my friends set this up and it is straight forward.

I'm not sure how to slow down an MP3 though. If someone else here has an idea how to do that in GarageBand, let us know here.

I hope this helps, Phil.
