Finder Icon / ? flashing on startup

Hello,

The other day I think I accidentally moved a file in my computer and couldn't find it. Beacuse I don't know which one i moved, I'm not sure what I've done. But now my computer won't startup, and falshes the finder / ? icon. I am afraid I'm going to lose all my data. Is there a way to re-install my OS x software without losing all my files?

Which mac are you using? and what os is installed? and do you have thr install disk9s0?

I think I am running OS X. My Imac is a G5, and is less than 2 years old. I am not sure about the disc, would it have come with one when I purchased it? If yes, then I do have one. Any help is greatly appreciated! I have a project due by next weekend!
