Error 17099

Using Mac OSX (10.4.10): have been getting repeated error message 17099 for past 2/3 months on sending messages via Entourage (V 11.3.3)

Error message says: "Too many concurrent SMPT connections. Please try again later. Mail cannot be sent"

Message appears on about 90% of outgoing messages: after slight delay, message is sent. It happens equally on short, purely text messages as on longer ones with attachments.

Problem occurred for approx 2 months on my old G4 Cube and has transferred itself to my new iMac 7,1.

Can anyone advise?

Check out this link. The user seems to address the same error. Maybe that might shed some light into the problem. If not, I'd suggest re-checking the SMTP set up.
