email making duplicates

THis is a fault I have never heard of before and I cannot find any info on it here so I will post and ,hopefully, someone else has encountered this problem.
I download my emails and they all come as duplicates so I have two of everything. When I delete one , I delete them both but it takes up a lot of space and is annoying. HAs anyone encountered this problem and how do I clear it?

At the bottom of your Mailbox Menu, Rebuild might clear the problem.
