Disk Not Ejected Properly?

Can anyone tell me why "Disk Not Ejected Properly" keep reappearing on my Mac 21.5 v10.13.6 with High Sierra?

It could be a loose connection. Can you try an alternative lead?

So, is it an external drive, and how is it connected to your iMac? Is it a USB connection, ie, a USB cable is connected to a port on the drive, and the other end is connected to a port on your iMac?
