Computer slow to start

When I click on the mouse it takes about 5 seconds for the screen to open where before it opened immediately.
I have changed the mouse but it makes no difference.
Any ideas as to what could have gone wrong?

Check the Console Log to see if something else is having a problem.

Type Console into Spotlight and Open the Console App.

Can you post some more details like What Apple and OS you running? What mouse did you have right now etc. Run Disk utility to repair permissions.

I am using an iMac 27 10.8.5 OS and a cordless apple mouse. I installed an Logitech mouse and it is working fine.The slowness has disappeared.
As my wife and I like to play Solitaire on the computer I think between the two of us we wore the Apple mouse out.
