Cant log on my Mac book

Hi, I have just tried to trun on my Mac Book and seem to be stuck on the white first page with the Apple logo and the daisy clock turning. It has been stuck like this for twenty minutes. I have tried switching it off and taking the battery out and still when it goes on its stuck on the white page. Any ideas?
