Can't download files from google chrome

Hello! I have a MacBook Air M1, which I've bought recently. I'm new to MacOS, and I can't seem to find the solution to my problem anywhere. I cannot download from video downloader sites (e.g. savefrom.net, etc) since it's supposed to automatically download after clicking. It only redirects me to a blank page (in windows, the download automatically starts and the page will close by itself). Tried Google Chrome suggestions such as disabling extensions and disabling safe browsing, they didn't work. Please help, is there any solution to this?

It would depend on the site. Have you tried the same file downloads in Safari or Firefox?
