Can't download OSX from Apple Store web site

I am trying to upgrade my computer from OS 10.6.8 to the "Mavericks" OS. When I click on the "upgrade" button on the Apple Store web site I get an error message that says that OSX can't open web sites beginning with "macappstores". How does one get the upgrade?

Just in case you don't find the App Store in your Applications Folder, make sure you are fully up-to-date with Software Update
