Can't connect my 2015 iMac to a 2020 Mac Mini, need help, thanks.

Hi Mac folks, I connected my 2015 iMac to a 2020 Mac Mini that I believe has been wiped clean. I'm using a Thunderbolt 2 adapter going from the iMac to the Mini. I connected the mini to my smart TV monitor. I thought I could transfer data from my iMac to the mini using just the cable, but the Mac Mini prompt on the TV says, "select a wi-fi network from the menu or attach a network cable to proceed. There is no menu I see from the Mac Mini to choose a network from. I have the Google wireless as my internet connection. Please advise what I need to do next, thanks.
