Just a few more questions .... Is the problem only related to discs that come with books?

What happens if you put a movie DVD or music CD in the drive? Or a blank disc?

What is the specific error message?

The problem came up when I tried to use mp3 player disk also.
Plays cds/dvds fine.
When I try to open the disk( default = itunes) I'm sent to DiskUtility and under information I get the locked =yes. Also says MAC OS9 drivers installed = no
Other than that I get no clues.

Hi there,

Have you tried running Disk Utility on your Mac...boot from the CD/DVD then run repair Mac.repair permissions.

Can you do command + i on one of the dodgy disks and post the screen grab of it here.

thanks

Ric
