Cannot get rid of Hotspot shield

I downloaded hotspot shield, decided I didn't want it and now cannot get rid of it. I sent it to the trash and the icon has disappeared from the desktop, but I cannot see it in the trash. Now I cannot empty the trash and cannot open some of my programmes. Can anyone help on this one to get it totally out of my computer ?

Hi and welcome,

Not sure this will work as you have already sent its icon to the trash, but try this.
First run activity monitor - Search for kex or kextd
Quit process
Force quit

You may also need to switch your VPN to "Manual" and or delete your VPN Profile.
DELETE VPN PROFILE
Go to "Settings"
Select "General"
Select "Profiles"
Select "Hotspot Shield VPN"
Tap "Remove"

Once done run its uninstaller, as I believe it has one.
