I have a Mac Desktop and a MacBook, both running Sierra 10.12.5 and I would like to copy my contacts and messages from my Desktop to the laptop, can anyone please help with information on how to do this. The second part of my problem is, once I have got the contacts and mail on both computers, what do I have to do to keep them both updated ?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Regards

Hello and welcome.

-Which exact models of Macs?
-Which version of OS X is running on both?

If you were signed into iCloud on the Desktop iMac, you should be able to sign in on the MacBook and it will sync the contacts/calendars/notes via iCloud.

Depending on who the email provider is and how it was setup, simply adding the email account in the Internet Accounts preference pane in System Preferences should sync the mail.
