Adding Screen Savers under OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.4

Believing different screen savers COULD NOT be installed under 10.8.4, I have just downloaded 2 (very cool) screen savers - "Lotsa Water" and "Rain Drops" - which I HAVE INSTALLED into Mountain Lion 10.8.4. They are free and available for download at:-​

Double clicking the downloaded 'saver' file (asks to) installs it in the System/Library/Screen Savers folder. Then opening System Preferences/Desktop and Screen Savers/Screen Savers shows the installed screen saver being available to be selected for use.​

NOTA BENE: The Missing Manual says this installation should NOT BE POSSIBLE !​

Hi an welcome,

Maybe am missing something here, but I have used both downloaded and personal screen savers since time immemorial.
But have them in a special folder that system preferences > screen can access. So not sure why you thought this could not be done.

I sell 2 screen savers for schools and they install fine under ML.
